John went to the Mexican War with his brother, Ashley, in 1847. They both
joined the U.S. Army in Athens, Alabama, 5/10/1847. He was assigned to a
Capt. H.H. Higgins, and served in the 13th. Infantry, Company F.

He was killed in Mexico, and it is assumed the he is buried at Meir, Old Mexico.

John M. Good fought in the Civil War. He was a teamster under General
Sherman's command. He died of smallpox during the seige of Vicksburg,
Mississippi. He is buried in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

James Dean served in the Confederate Army in the 6th Regiment Georgia Cavalry and in Captian Anderson's Company of Smith's Legion. He was a sergeant in both units. On July 13, 1863, it was reported that he had "died at Cumberland Gap, East Tennessee." This entry was later canceled. On 11/26/1863, he was listed as a deserter, with a notation, "Supposed to be captured." He was reported as captured in Cook County, Tennessee on 1/14/1864 and was imprisoned at Knoxville, Tennessee. He was transferred to Louisville, Kentucky on 1/24/1864. On 5/3/1865, he was transferred to New Orleans, Louisiana for exchange.

Obituary: Funeral services for Albert C. neece, 88, Rule, Texas, are scheduled
for 2 PM Tuesday from the Hampton-Vaughn Funeral Home Chapel. He died Monday morning in a Wichita Fall hospital. He lived in Bowie prior to 1929, where he was a music teacher. He then moved to Rule, where he has lived since and was a write and publisher of religious songs. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, two sons, one sister, and two brothers. Burial wil be in Rosemound Cemetery., Wichita Falls.

Albert married five times, to 4 different women. The fourth marriage was the second marriage to Georgia Rorex and ended in divorce.

Alberts only children are from the marriage to Lucretia Watkins Neece.
