When I was born, my birth certificate indicated my names as Elizabeth Porter. However, I was always called Betsy. Either in late 1969 or spring of 1970, Mother had my name legally changed to "Betsy" and the birth certificate was ammended to show the name change. The name change occurred before I got a driver's license or a social security card. I've always used Besty for all legal dealings.
