Robert, known as Bob, was lynched for killing his mother-in-lay, Eliza Myers Walser. He maintained that he did not shoot her.......
The story is that Eliza was "a real bitch" and kidnapped her daughter, Laura, just before her and Bob's baby, Clara Vestal, was born. Bob grabbed the baby and ran and his story is "he heard shots being fired as he ran away. Anyway, he was lynched.
This child, Clara Vestal later married Daniel Jackson Hobbs, who died. She then married William Davis Walser and bore him 11 children.

Robert B. Berrier, known in the community as Bob was lynched by community members for killing his mother-ibn-law, Eliza Myers Walser. He maintained to the end.....that he didn't shoot her, but.........
The story is that Eliza was a "real bitch" and kidnapped her daughter, Laura, just before Bob and Laura's baby was born. There is some discussion as to the actual happenings, but, after the birth of the child, named Clara Vestal, "something happened" and Bob grabbed the baby girl and ran away and later indicated that he heard shots coming from the house.
He was arrested for killing Eliza, but the community "hung him anyway"
Laura later married Daniel Jackson Hobbs and Clara's sir-name became Hobbs
