1. Comments: Relationship between Charles Austin and his son William Austin. In the newsletter "Austins of America", Volume 1, page 232 ,found at The Austin Families Genealogical Society, there is an article titled "The Austin Family of Stanly and Union Counties in North Carolina", written by D. Nancy. This article references Charles Austin who immigrated to the colonies from Ireland before the American Revolution. He married Mary LNU (Last Name Unknown). Their children are listed as Peggy, William (b. 11 April 1754), Charles, John, Mary, James, and Sarah.
In the newsletter "Austins of America", Volume 1, page 286, found at The Austin Families Genealogical Society, thre is an article title "Some Descendants of William and Elizabeth Austin of Barren County, Kentucky" written by Margaret Bullion Daniel. In the article, Mrs. Daniel projected that the William of this article is the William, Son of Charles mentioned above, born 11 Apr 1754 in Ireland. She also mentions that in the area where William settled are two other Austins names Charles and John. The Charles Austin listed above had three sons by these names. The writer of the book seemed certain that this was the William Austin who married Elizabeth Vaden. She also believed the three Austins in the Barren County area were related.
I mention this not as solid proof of the relationship between Charles and William, but as a point of reference for those who are researching the Austin family. Futher research will be required to prove this supposition. (Charlie Vines - Site Administrator).
