1. His parents moved to West Texas in 1846. 1

2. In 1861 Osceola worked as a school teacher in Oakville as he studied law. 1

3. In 1861, he inlisted into the Terry Rangers in Houston where he served as a private throughout the war. Terry Rangers fought as part of the army of Tennessee and saw action Shiloh, Perryvile, Kentucky, Murfresboro, Tennessee, Knoxville and Bentonville. 1

4. In 1865, after the war, Osceola returned to Texas and taught school in DeWitt County for five months. 1

5. In October 1866, he was admitted to the bar in Helena, Karnes County, Texas. 1

6. In 1867, Mr. Archer was appointed County Attorney by the Commissioners' Court of Karnes County. 1

7. In March 1869, formed a law practice with Major A. H. Phillips with Major Phillips heading an office in Victoria and Mr. Archer heading an office in Indianola. 1

8. In 1870, he left the partnership when he was appointed District Attorney for the Sixteenth Judicial District which comprised seven counties, including Victoria, Calhoun, and Nueces. 1

9. In June 1872 he was nominated for District Attorney. His opponents were the Hon. William H. Grain and Judge W. W. Dunlap. Mr. Archer won on the first ballet. He declined the nomination and move to Austin, because of his wife's poor health. 1

10. In June, 1887, Mr. Archer was appointed to the Board of Managers of the State Lunatic Asylum, in Austin. 1

11. Osceola Archeris a member of the Protestant Espiscopal church which he joined in 1879. 1
